Your First Visit. What to Expect

Feeling a little nervous before a first appointment is completely normal, especially if it's been a while since your last dental visit. Here's exactly what will happen, so there are no surprises.

Before your visit

When you request an appointment, Nenita, our front desk manager, will call you back to confirm a time and take a few basics. Please bring:

• A photo ID
• Your dental insurance card (if you have one, cash patients are welcome too)
• A list of any medications you take
• Any recent x-rays from a previous dentist, if available (we can also request them for you)

Arriving about 10 minutes early gives you time to finish the new-patient paperwork without feeling rushed.

During your visit, about 60 minutes

1. A warm welcome. You'll meet the team and never be handed off without knowing who's caring for you.
2. Digital x-rays. Quick, comfortable, and with far less radiation than traditional film.
3. A comprehensive exam. Dr. Reyes checks your teeth, gums, bite, and existing dental work, and screens for oral cancer. If needed, she may use our Medit 3D scanner to show you your own teeth on screen.
4. A professional cleaning with our gentle Cavitron ultrasonic scaler (when appropriate, if significant gum disease is present, we'll schedule the right type of cleaning instead).
5. An honest conversation. Dr. Reyes explains what she found in plain language, answers every question, and gives you a clear, personalized treatment plan with priorities and pricing. No lectures, no judgment, no pressure: many of our favorite patients came to us after years away from the dentist.

After your visit

You'll leave knowing exactly where your dental health stands and what (if anything) to do next. If treatment is needed, Nenita will help you understand your insurance coverage and schedule at your pace.

It's been years since my last visit, is that okay?

Yes. Truly. It's our job to get you healthy from wherever you're starting, not to make you feel bad about the gap. The hardest part is booking the first appointment, we'll take it from there.
